Country : Australia
State : South Australia
The City of Adelaide is the capital of South Australia.
Population : around 1 100 000
Adelaide was named after Queen Adelaide, wife of William IV, the King of England who reigned from 1830 until his death in 1837. The site for the City was proposed by Colonel William Light, an adventurer and a visionary planner who was commissioned to survey the City. (Capital City Committee Adelaide)
Fine food, great wine, a sense of history and the good life – can all be found in the elegant City of Adelaide – the capital of South Australia and home to more than a million people.
This is a city of tolerance and reform, being the capital of one of the first places in the world to grant women voting rights, in 1894.
The City has a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm summers.
Elder Park is located on the slopes of the south bank of the Torrens Lake, adjacent the Adelaide Festival Centre.

The Rotunda in Elder Park was erected in 1882.
